Hatha Yoga at Discovery Green Conservancy 9-24-2016

Today's Hatha Yoga class! We got rained on, and personally, I loved it. An aspect of Hatha Yoga is to return to nature, and this session was as authentic as it gets for Houston! Thanks to all of you who stuck it out and smiled through the rain drops! I appreciate your dedication.

Patanjali's Yoga Sutra covered 51: This was the last reading of book 1 of 4, the peak of the text thus far. Patanjali states that the final state of stillness surpasses all patterns of consciousness. To attain this state, one is to look so deeply within that they surpass the external world, intellect, thinking mind, opinions, memory, and the senses. The state is described as dynamic and blissful. This is different than just closing the eyes. When one closes the eyes, they are looking at the back of their eyelids, sitting just behind the eyes, in their head. This state is to withdraw your light from the external to the internal and while doing so, spreading one's light throughout the body in every chamber and channel. Move beyond the eyes and send your light, awareness, and consciousness to every part of your body, with intention. In this state, one moves beyond words and forms. Move deeply within!

Please join us! Every Saturday from 9 - 10am in downtown Houston, TX. Each week I offer new postures and a continuous lecture on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Just show up, bring water, a mat, and a friend if you can! All ages and fitness levels are welcome. A participation waiver is to be signed before the class, no payment necessary but all donations help run and maintain the inspiring nonprofit park.
