Hatha Yoga at Discovery Green Conservancy 10-8-2016

As always, Discovery Green Yoga is the highlight of my weekend! Today we had immaculate Texas weather. I am grateful for all who joined, thank you!!

Patanjali's Yoga Sutras covered: 2.2 and 2.3: Today we continued the discussion on removing tensions or afflictions in our life. In 2.2 we again refer to 'Kriya Yoga' (3 parts listed below). Patanjali notes that samadhi (the state of mental and physical stillness) and removing tensions (known as 'klesha' in Sanskrit) in life are the two goals of 'Kriya Yoga.'
  • Self Purification (through physical movements, breathing techniques, intentional hand positions, internal engagement, concentration, and non-violence) 
  • Self-Observation (Viewing every aspect of our consciousness) 
  • Evolving Self Awareness (uniting with our inner consciousness) 

In 2.3 he reveals the 5 afflictions...
  1. Ignorance
  2. 'I-feeling'
  3. Liking
  4. Disliking
  5. Fear of death
It may be important to note these tensions with a label, for when we are meditating, we can decide what the mind is distracted by and attempt to purify the attitude or thought process. Once we can notice our mental habits we can change internally.

Just show up, bring water, a mat, and a friend if you can! All ages and fitness levels are welcome.
