Houston Yoga - Discovery Green Hatha and Raja Yoga - Yoga at the Park 7-22-2017
Thanks for coming to class last Saturday, July 22nd, 2017! I only have 3 more classes @DiscoveryGreen until I am off to my dream in Boulder, Colorado! It will be hard to leave this class, but the community is well established and should continue on without a skip in the breath. New instructor... I'l let you know when we have a replacement, stay tuned. It means so much to me to have been able to speak and share about Yoga to all of you, thank you! See you on Saturday!
Yoga Sutra 3.4: Samyama is the combined technique of the 6th limb (Dharana - concentration), 7th limb (Dhyana - meditation), and 8th limb (Samadhi) of the Raja Yoga system. This deep state of meditation occurs with mastery of the entire fixation process, the mind is directed at will and held perfectly on one single point. This comes with time, dedication, and constant repetition.
Applying the Sutra: Once again, repeat your concentration technique, whatever you choose, fix the mind firmly on your point (thought, symbol, words, object, etc.). When you find yourself distracted, return to your focus again and again, I recommend following your breath, this is a simple way to enter meditation. Listen to your breath, feel the breath enter, expand, and leave your body, notice the cycle with all of your attention. Continue on the path!
